On this occasion, the Vienna-based artist and musical collective Auslaender presents “Freak Show” at one of the oldest active cinemas in the world, the Breitenseer Lichtspiele. With “Freak Show”, Auslaender (who take their name from the German derogatory term for "foreigners") reflect on the double standards of policies that take advantage of immigrants, integrating them into the labor force but excluding and limiting them politically, socially and culturally through key institutions that keep them categorized as "aliens". The project was originally proposed to be presented at the MA35 (Austrian Ministry of Immigration), but was rejected. The concert-performance is dedicated to Austrian visa applicants and those who support them. At the box office, everyone will receive a MUME/Auslaender-issued ID card that allows free entry and is valid for the day of the event.
